My newest production.....

That I can mention anyway.....been making a few items for a Mothers Day swap I'm in, and as I'm bad enough with photo's, I'm not even going to attempt a sneak peak of them...lol, plus my swap partner reads my blog...so sorry Lois if you were hoping for the purple bag in the above pic. I've also made a "mini me" of this bag....as a coin purse and will edit the post to add the pics of that shortly.....see below.

And now for the gratuitous finger shot to prove the pockets on the 'mini me' purse are useable...lol

Let me know what you think.

Purple Baby/Nappy/Diaper Bag

Today I completed making this baby bag for a customer order. Her requirements were that it was light purple and that it had elastic inside to hold bottles up....This was the best fabric I could find that was light purple, and I put elastic straps at each end and along one side.....in the pic above you can see that the internal pocket is divided into two sections, one small and one larger one, to hold baby wipes. I hope she likes it.....it's off to the Post Office on Tuesday (public holiday here in Adelaide tomorrow for Anzac Day).

What do you think of it? Size-wise, it's approx 17 & 1/2 " across and 13" high and 6" deep....should be way big enough for all the bits and bobs some mums (not Khristina though!) like to carry around with them.

Anzac Day

The above pic has the most remembered lines (IMO) of the Poem Of Rememberance, but for anyone interested, here's the rest of the words....

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them. Lest we forget
My dad and grandfather both served in either the army or navy, and whilst neither were killed in battle, I still remember them every Anzac Day, especially my Dad. At least this year he has Mum with him. RIP to you both. Love ya

Let's talk about S-E-X....lol

I thought that would get your attention....roflmao Yes I do want to talk to/with you about S-E-X = Stash Enhancement Xperience.....what was that I heard? Was that the sound of someone yawning....sorry if I surprised you by talking about a different S-E-X to the norm, but occasionally I drag my butt and brain out of the gutter, and can hold a 'clean' conversation!

Anyhoo, as usual, I digress.....I've been naughty in the last couple of weeks, and have certainly enhanced my supplies.....bad Naomi bad Naomi.....but it has only just dawned on me just now, as to why.....I seem to have the need for fabric therapy when something's upsetting me...and because Mother's Day is looming, and it's my first one without my Mad Old Mum, MOM for short! I believe that's why I've felt the need for fabric therapy.

I have to stop though, coz we're moving house in a couple of months....and boy oh boy are we gonna need a strong removalist team or what....there's a heck of alot of fabric to be moved...and I haven't been helping it go down at all, just add to it.

If you happen to hear me mention Ebay or Spotlight, tell me "NO" Unless my arm's will drop off without whatever it is I tell you I want to buy, tell me "NO" lol I'm hoping you're all stronger than I am, I can usually last a few weeks, even a couple of months with no purchases, and then whammo, I'm off the wagon again and I must say, it's not always pleasant to see! I go all Homer Simpson over the cruddiest fabrics, just coz!

So, in closing, I must say S-E-X has taken on a whole new meaning for y'all now hey? I am Naomi and I'm a S-E-X-A-H-O-L-I-C....lol

Naomi

Definition (by me) of a S-E-X-A-H-O-L-I-C .... one who has an incessant need to buy fabric, even though they have a room or rooms full of it already! (That's me)

Khris has a great Tote bag tutorial on her blog

As some of you may have gathered, Khristina of SewPrimKhris, is a great inspiration to me in my crafting endeavours, and when I was at her place last Friday, I witnessed her brilliance (does it sound like I might be sucking up? You betcha!) at it's best, and she whipped up a tote bag....which wasn't made how I've seen any other bags made, and I've made lots! Either click on the photo, or where her name and blog are mentioned, to go grab her tutorial.....be sure to tell her I sent you!

I've edited this post on 30th April, coz I've just found out, Khris's tute is being gossiped about....check it out......Craftgossip has put a link up to her tutorial!

Easter pressie from Khristina....lol

A couple of weeks back, just before Easter in fact, Khristina told me she'd got me a little something for Easter....and I had the guilts big time....I hadn't gotten anyone other than my DGD anything for Easter this year...lol So, yesterday, on my way to her place, I stopped of at the shops and got her a couple of "Owlie" things and headed off to see her.

When I got there, she had my pressies out on the table, and as she pushed them towards me, I noticed the owl bookmark, and smirked.....then reached into my shopping bag, and pulled out her red/orange bookmark that says Believe on it, where mine says Dream...lol Then I noticed she also had a newspaper wrapped item for me, and I laughingly said "wouldn't it be funny if the other pressie's we got each other matched too" and as luck would have it, they did...ROFLMAO

As you can see from the above pic, they're cute as...even if I do say so myself....lol

Talking of Khris, check out this pic (see below) of a comment I left on Kelly Jacksons IHAN blog for one of her giveaways.....I reckon I suck that good, that my middle name should be Hoover, what do you think???? lmao

Here's our cat

Just had to share a pic I managed to snap of the cat, without him moving to hide his face.....obviously he's a bit camera shy! His name is Blackie by the way.

Margy's bag for her Birthday

I just recently got this pattern from Geta Gama and am trialling it in a few different colour ways...this is the first one.....it's already at it's new home, but we'll have to wait until Margy gets home from work later to see if she likes her birthday present. Her favourite colour is red, so I hopefully have it covered...what do you think? I did mess it up slightly....I used white thread around the zippered pocket (yes Aunty Sharon....another zippered pocket....c'mon you really do have to give it a try soon! Pop on your big girl panties and give it a whirl!) and I cut the lining pieces to the pattern and NOT to the completed front pieces as is stated in the pattern....bad Naomi hey? Oh well, nothing a couple of bands didn't fix...hee hee hee.

Baby bags

Now don't go thinking I've just made these....I did make them both, just not in the last few months.....I'm posting pics here of them so someone can see what I'm talking about (would make a nice change for someone out there to know what the heck I'm dribbling about hey?) The red bag I'd made for my mum, but since she's no longer alive, I've gained it back....and the penguin one is the same bag with a few alterations to it....size being one of them!

Mooey, get your friend to look at them both and decide what she's after please!

Bitty Bug Pouch

I started and finished this cute little pouch yesterday morning....didn't take long to sew, just cutting out took me a while! Had a minor hitch with the zip part at the top.....sewed the ends together the wrong way...the seam was exposed on the inside when I turned it through...hee hee hee....still, nothing that a quick unpick couldn't fix....lol

Marions new skirt bag

Last night, for the first time in months, Marion actually pulled her finger out and did some sewing....she turned this cute little skirt into a gorgeous bag...not everyone's cup of tea I'm sure, but she's over the moon with herself, as you can see from the smile on her face as she shows off her new bag. From start to finish, between the two of us....I cut out and she sewed, the bag took just under 4 hours...pretty good huh?

Another finish, an owlie this time though!

A friend of mine had made Kikkie whilst staying at her sisters house, and knowing I like owls, she bought it round to show me.....hers is very similar to the original, and straight away I knew I wanted to make one....but 'cute' it up....which I think I've just about managed, what do you think? Kikkie is a pattern that was in the Australian Handmade magazine last year sometime (I think). I need to learn to read the instructions though, as I was supposed to make Kikkie using the template method, which I did in places, but didn't with the body, and mine ended up smaller than Sues (the friend)....oh well, this can be my 'mock up' one, and the next one will be the real deal...hee hee hee I'd also like to make a similar one, but much bigger as like a cuddle pillow.....so stay tuned!

OMG, not sure I like this pattern!

I saw this pattern over at Robert Kaufman and thought it would look great, but not as 'busy' as the original pattern.....head on over there, and you'll see what I mean.....well after struggling with a few 'necessary adjustments' (pattern errors perhaps) and this is what I came up with. If, and I really do mean IF I ever chance making another one of these, I would make a few changes, such as not interfacing the bow at all....or if I do, only one layer of medium 'strength' not the heavy that the pattern calls for....I think that'll make the bow a bit more drapy (such a word?? lol) and natural looking....and as for the handles....don't go there....the pattern tells you to attach them to the side panel....which doesn't make for a nice finish IMHO.....so I'd attach the handles to the front and back panels.....and yes, my outer pockets are done different to the pattern, and aren't really even, but they're certainly still, and this again is just IMHO, better than the way the original bag pattern says.

By all means try the pattern yourself and hopefully you'll have more luck than I did! I'm off to make an owl shelf sitter now.....here's hoping I do a better job of it than I did with this bag.

3 Good little girls!

Well, I may not have been posting many finished projects lately, but here's 3 Raggedies that are almost 100% finished....just need to sweet talk Khristina into selling me some rusty bells or the like for the two in the red check dresses.....and I'm still deciding whether to add bows to their pony tails....what do you think? Do they need bows or not? The one in the middle is my Grand daughters easter present....seens as though I'm going to try and not be one of those Nanny's that always hype the grandkids up on chocolate....besides....it's more for me to eat if I don't give her any....lol Which would be good except I didn't even buy any this year! lol

Happy Easter, I'm off to finish of a Bow Tie bag.....I printed off the pattern a while back, started cutting it out, only to find I needed more fabric....but Khris to the rescue (again...thanks mate) and voila, I now have enough fabric to finish the bag off....and then I'm going to make an owl softie, which I might do in boy colours and send to my son for Easter! Dunno whether he'll be impressed, but I'm going to do it anyway! lol
